Artist Statement

Three-dimensional structure often looks planar structure and vice versa. Stairways that are constantly repeated in an unreal space like Escher's drawing. Moving lines which seem to alive and last forever. Those are always interesting to me. Black and white colors in my works allows me to express those images distinctly. Marriage of metal technique is very effective in showing my work. Silver and nickel silver can be expressed in white and black, which shows the illusion that drawing on a piece of paper with a pen can be transformed into three dimensions.
The brooches using mother-of-pearls are also do not deviate from the "visual illusions" The theme of my work. I made jewelry with geometric image and unintended beauty created by nature. This is like the flow of my work to show that the marriage of metal and traditional materials and techniques, such as have shown in my previous work of a contemporary image. The works created in addition to the beauty of the mother of pearl. Mother of pearl is the natural objects that light is reflected at an angle, showing the different colors and sparkle depending on the surrounding environment.

나는 가끔 어느 한 곳에 서면 기대하지 못했던 가상의 공간이 보인다, 그 곳에서는 차원을 알 수 없어지기 한다.
또한 뫼비우스의 띠와 같이 끝을 알 수 없는 순환의 세계가 주는 시각적 재미에 흥미를 느낀다. 내가 느끼듯 나의 작품으로 감상자에게 말을 거는 것을 즐긴다. 이러한 주제는 아주 현대적이며 모던한 이미지를 만들어내며 금속공예의 매우 전통적인 기법인 절상감(marriage of meta)과 소재인 자개(mother of pearl)로 표현된다. 이 브로치와 그 외의 장신구 연작들은 나의 작업의 주제인 ‘시각적 착시’에서 벗어나지 않는다. 자개가 주는 아름다움을 더하여 제작된 작품이다. 자연물인 자개는 빛이 어떤 각도로 반사 되는지, 주변환경에 따라 여러 가지 색과 반짝임을 보여준다. 이렇듯 자연이 주는 의도하지 않는 아름다움을 가진 재료로 만들어진 기하학적인 패턴은 이전의 나의 작품들에서 보여주었던 상감기법과 같이 전통적인 재료나 기법을 현대적인 이미지로 보여주고자 하는 나의 작업들과 맥을 같이 한다.
